How would you spend $1,000 to save the planet?

12 international environmental leaders tell us how they’d spend a grand to green the planet.

“I’d buy $1,000 worth of BPA-free baby bottles and give them to family, friends and children’s organizations that are supporting new babies. But hey, 1,000 bucks ain’t much, and I haven’t been paid in two years, so maybe I’d put it in my pocket and invest in an environmental filmmaker!”

I would use the $1000.00 to develop a system that would utilize all the waste paper my school generates even after we have used it several times. I would like to have my students devise a method of shredding this paper, mix it with corn gluten to make an eco-friendly recyclable plant mulch and reduce the amount of herbicide my community uses.
