Green Cars for 2011

Check out this slideshow of new hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles that save money and emissions, including the no-gasoline-required Nissan Leaf

Porsche Cayenne Hybrid

Even racy sports cars are going green. To reduce emissions, control systems on this hybrid help establish the optimal amount of fuel used by the engine. Expect long breaks between service visits thanks to self-adjusting engine parts and a low-maintenance ignition system. The only replacement part during oil changes is a recyclable paper element (the casing remains on the vehicle), creating less waste.

Coolest Feature: 95% per cent of the car can be recycled using current technologies. Not that you’ll be blue-boxing this one in a hurry: two-thirds of Porsches ever built are still on the road today.

Annual fuel cost: $2,185
Mileage (litres/100 km): 10.4 city/8.4 highway
