From orcas to owls, help your kids get to know Canada’s species at risk and how to protect them

 8/ Spotted turtle

One natural predator to the spotted turtle is the raccoon. But it's humans who are their biggest threat. Freshwater pollution, wetland alteration and their capture and sale as pets have also deeply affected their numbers.

Did you know? Spotted turtles have long necks, pig-like snouts and small, spotted shells.

Region: Ontario and Quebec

Take Action: Make sure you report your turtle sightings and even help turtles cross the street if you spot one on her way back to the nest.
