Endangered Species in Canada

From orcas to owls, help your kids get to know Canada’s species at risk and how to protect them

3/ Golden eagle

The golden eagle is a fast and fierce hunter that preys on mice, rats and even foxes. This beautiful bird needs wild open space for hunting, making the need to protect our forests all the more urgent. The golden eagle population is in trouble specifically in Ontario and the species is listed under the province's Endangered Species Act, 2007, which protects it from being killed, harmed, possessed, collected or sold.

Region: Northern hemisphere, particularly Labrador and Quebec

Take Action:  Get involved in the Nature Conservancy of Canada's project to protect bird wildlife by putting conservation agreements in place that ensure critical habitats are left intact.
