Hearty Humus

Humus is a healthy mix of ground chickpeas and ground sesame seeds (tahini), mixed with a little garlic and some spices. Sesame seeds are high in protein and polyunsaturated fatty acids and contain a high percentage of vitamin B. 


  • 1 can chickpeas (540ml)

  • 4 tablespoons lemon juice

  • 2 small garlic cloves

  • ½ teaspoon salt

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup tahini (approx. 4 tablespoons)

  • ½ cup water
3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Pita Break’s Organic Whole Wheat Lavash crackers


  1. Strain the canned chickpeas and blend them in a food processor. 

  2. Add the rest of the ingredients to the food processor and mix well for about two minutes.

  3. Refrigerate for four hours or more. Adjust seasoning if needed.

  4. Serve with Pita Break’s Organic Whole Wheat Lavash crackers!
