I love the ideas and the fact that you highlighted many canadian products but you left out my favourite. Its Seaflora Organic Seaweed Skincare - they even have seaweed green tea that tastes amazing!!! All of their products are toxin free, organic and extremely Canadian. Check it out at www.sea-flora.com
My skin with excessively dry and bad acne. Now I happy to say my skin is clear. Try this: Need: sweet almond oil and tea tree oil: Wash with no soap, as I do not wear make up other than lipstick and some eye pencil, so if you do remove make up. Rinse face with water a few times, pat dry so if is still slightly damp, tip the bottle of sweet almond oil on to palm of hand once and in the other hand run the hand over water, put hands together to mix sweet almond oil and water. Apply to cheeks, forehead, and the rest of the face. At night do the same as above, but add a drop of tea tree oil to the sweet almond oil and water. Note: Do not apply to eyes or mouth.
Skin cancer is not fun. I am glad to hear you caught it. As a natural spa owner and esthetician I am always on the look out for current research on skin. Green tea might be your best friend. It has been proven to decrease the biomarkers of skin cancer when applied topically to the skin. What does that mean? It decreases the damage caused when exposed to UVB. Therefore helps prevent sun related damage like aging and skin cancer. Some articles you might like to read are posted on skin therapy letter.com Green tea also balances the PH of the skin, and is one of the main ingredients used in a very popular acne product. Balancing the PH is important as maintaining it helps to kill bacteria on the skin.
Has anyone ever tried making their own products? I know of family friends who do and give them as gifts. I have yet to try it myself but I think it's a great idea and could be alot of fun. I found some recipies on the David Suzuki website's Queen of Green Page. I'm quite sure that they will be good as the creator has her own green cosmetic line. If you are interested check it out: http://www.davidsuzuki.org/NatureChallenge/QueenofGreen/ (It's under recipies)
re: The question about the Green Science toner by Aveda. You can look forward to purchasing the product on August 30, when it will be available in stores and online! Sorry for any confusion.
I have the Organic Surge lavender and geranium hand lotion and I love it! I smells amazing. Pretty convenient that you can buy it at Shoppers too.
thanks for this, i'm always on the lookout for green beauty items! www.13goingonbeautiful.blogspot.com
Why is the Green Science Toner not on the Aveda website? I could not find it.
I recently saw an official from Health Canada on an Edmonton news program saying that Formaldahyde is SAFE in very small levels. It causes nasal cancer among other things when exposed to higher levels but come on here, anything that's linked to cancer shouldn't be safe at any level. What I'm saying is Health Canada doesn't know it all!
baby steps. baby steps. i'd like it if people knew the when to use 'fewer' and 'less' properly. it's 'fewer toxins'. anyway, i'd like to know that i'm being responsible in my choices while on my way to perfection. all of us can't have even skin tone, naturally! get real, ya hippie!
