Jean-Michel Cousteau is known for marine conservation (his father was legendary ocean explorer Jacques Cousteau) and for making environmental documentaries, but did you know he also operates a luxury eco-resort? It’s located on 17 acres of a coconut plantation on Vanua Levu, an island in Fiji. Sustainability is a main theme at this tropical retreat – in fact, it’s the only luxury resort that employs a full-time marine biologist. Guests can take part in activities such as scuba diving and kayaking to explore Fiji’s tropical waters. We commend the resort for its educational programs, organic vegetable gardens and wastewater treatment system.
