Nelson Park Community Gardens

In June 2008 the redeveloped Nelson Park community gardens officially opened to the public. Located in the West End neighbourhood at Nelson and Bute, these gardens offer residents a little slice of paradise within a bustling urban environment. There are 24 plots in total and membership is $20 per year. Members can grow anything they want in these gardens be it vegetables, fruit, or flowers.

First I want to say my e- mail dose not work. I was just trying to find out some info about Nelson gardens and came across Jasminka comments about dqg park. I to am concerned about small dogs in dog park. I was thinking his yesterday as I walked passed,wow there sure is a lot of big dogs in the dog park lately the little dogs do'nt have a chance. I love big dogs, but I walk a little dog right now.It is hard to go into the DP with him because all the big dogs rush him and he gets really up set. Could here not be a space made for small dogs too? Where they can't walk through the fence. They use to have grassy nolls,sade and peace of mind,and friends. Now they have nothing. I use to watch them from across the st. where I live. Everyone was so happy. Now I take the little dog I walk at night to dog park it's safer, but no friends to play with, it's dark and cold and borring for both of us.

Hi! I have some note for you.I live near Nelson Park and have a small dog.When renovated park was open I felt happy.But now I`m a little bit disappointed.My dog likes to play with other dogs and to have many friends.Unfortunately I understood off leash area is not safe for small dogs.Twice I was present when a big dog attached a small one.It was very sad to watch that.Another people told me similar story.Because that my dog doesn`t use off leash area in Nelson park anymore.However some owners take dangerous risk putting their small favorites there.Logically small dog can play together with a big one.They have different weight,a size and probable temperament.Because that I appeal and please you to separate a small part without leash for little dogs.In West End there are a lot of small dogs who want to play,but they don`t a safe place.I think it is`n fair toward us and our favorites.Because that I`m so sad and angry.
