A small town in Belgium has decided to go meat-free one day a week. Thursdays, in fact. 

Last year, the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change implored people take small measures to reduce the hefty environmental impact of our meat and dairy consumption. Their suggestion? Go meat-free one day a week. 

Tristram Stuart, author of The Bloodless Revolution, a social history of vegetarianism, comments on this initiative for the Guardian.
