There is no longer the need to venture out to your favorite cheese market, in search of those rare and wonderful local cheeses. With a few clicks on the internet you can have Shay Cheese delivering 'The Taster' (among many other gourmet hand selected cheese boxes) right to your door.
Andy Shay and Marc Ridel, two veterans of the gourmet and artisan food scene, are the masterminds behind this exciting company. Their mission is simple: to bring you unique and delectable cheeses from Canada, and around the world, and to teach you the history behind each and every cheese.
Choose from THE TASTER which serves 6 - 8 for $80.00, THE ENTERTAINER which serves 16 - 22 for $165.00 or, for the upcoming holiday season, choose THE SYBARITE (a beautiful box of luxury cheeses) for $225.00.
Interested in trying a more abundant selection of Shay's artisan products? Simply order a few 'Add On Products' and you can be sampling Duck Confit or Goose Bloc Fois Gras along with your scrumptious cheeses. Each box also includes a guide on "how to taste cheese," production and tasting notes, storage and serving tips, as well as wine suggestions.
The selection of cheeses changes each month; this month's TASTER includes:
Peau Rouge: A Quebec washed rind cheese which has been aged for 18 months
Beaufort Ete (summer milk): Similar to a Gruyere, this cheese is from the Jura mountains in France and is AOC designated.
Old Amsterdam: A firm and nutty gold medal winning aged Gouda.
Echourgnac: Washed with a walnut liqueur made by Monks at the Abbaye D'Echourgnac, in Perigord France: cow milk, delicious and faintly sweet
Tomme des Joyeux Fromagers: Brand spanking new, Quebec goat milk, washed rind, firm cheese
