Mom's Healthy Secrets

Mom knows best right? Although maybe not always right, it certainly appears to be so in this case. A new Canadian made cereal called, Mom's Healthy Secrets, has hit the shelves at your local health food shop and grocery store, and it seems to be flying off the shelves. I first came across this cereal while shopping at The Big Carrot in Toronto. Although intrigued due to the beautiful packaging, I initially did not bite, thinking that perhaps this healthy cereal was of the variety that did not taste as good as it looked. Boy was I wrong. Upon trying it at an in-store tasting a few days later (and chatting up the sample lady for a few minutes) I was sold. Not only was this 100% organic cereal delicious, with loads of organic ingredients including bran flakes, multigrain sqaures, rolled oats, barley flakes, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds, it was supremely healthy, and had just the right amount of sweetness, due mostly to organic dried strawberries, bananas and other fruits. This was the OmegaActive variety, which boasts a healthy dose of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids for us pregnant ladies. This new company (created by who else than Mom's Daughter, Julie Arora) offers 2 other exciting varieties of Signature Cereals, VitaBerry and FibreFit, and 2 hot Original Cereals, Raisin and Tropical Fruit. Julie's inspiration appears to be simple. She would like to offer you and your family what her mom did for their family - quick solutions that are healthy and delicious. Her philosophy? Good food equals good health. You know, I think Mom is right.

I'll for sure have to try that one. One that I am currently hooked on is the Peace brand Raspberry Ginger. I had thought they were made in Canada - in BC - but either they've moved or I was wrong all along, as they're in Oregon now. They have lots of choices, many I've tried and liked them all. One thing to note - a lot of things like this cereal are labeled "natural", and like the label 'organic' means different things depending on where it is and who's using it. A lot of 'natural' products are as green and clean as organic, but are grown in small collectives which could never afford the cost of being certified organic. In fact, they've been so poor that they couldn't afford to use pesticides and fertilizers - hence the goodness of the product. I'm not saying that's always the case, but there are lots of loopholes in the organic certification too, depending on where you live. Guess we just have to do the best we can, eh?
It's refreshing to have alternative products like this that are easily available and are good for you. I found this cereal at the local Metro, tried it and liked it! Delicious, organic, Canadian and reasonably priced - what a winning combination!
I LOVE this cereal!!! The fact that it's completely organic, a Canadian product, and so delicious is absolutely amazing!!!!!
I went out and tried the cereal after I read your blog - THANK YOU for introducing me to it! I bought all three varieties just so that I could try them and I can't decide which one I like best!!
You're absolutely right. This cereal is amazing. I've been eating it for breakfast daily for months. It tastes great and gives me enough energy to make it through my busy mornings. I would definitely recommend it over other healthy but not so tasty breakfast cereals.
