I hate the feeling of caked on makeup. Hate it. But I do wear makeup... so I always wash it off thoroughly. And it really can be simple to do so, especially with the help of a simple pure remover. Personally speaking, the majority of the makeup I wear is not waterproof, so a few splashes of warm water typically does the trick. But when I do wear the waterproof (like my Jane Iredale mascara that lasts forever and ever!), I add a dash of remover to my washing routine and everything comes off just as easily. Since I don't use makeup remover all that often, I just take some of my Nude Cleansing Milk when I need it. Cleansing milks in general have the right consistency and ingredients to perfectly double as fabulous makeup removers. And my EvanHealy and Farmaesthetics oils (like olive, grapeseed, and jojoba) are also great -- as they seem to make the makeup slip right off my face. I think that is the goal, as I never want to have to rub repeatedly for success. Regarding the popular makeup remover pads, while such individual one-time use products may be handy for travel, they are not a sustainable option due to the waste of both paper and packaging. A simple bottle (ideally recycled / recyclable itself!) can be used many times and thus produces much less waste in the long run. Natural formulas are also more concentrated than the synthetic filler-ridden conventional products, meaning you actually need less product in each application. (This can also help to balance any small price differential!). And the gentler formulations won't irritate sensitive skin, especially around the eye. No matter how you go about taking it off, it is very important to remove makeup from your skin before using a scrub that opens pores and sleeping. Product-free skin can breathe - having the opportunity to perspire, readjust, cool off (key in summer!) and rid itself of toxins... all necessary for a beautiful complexion! No matter how much makeup I may apply in the morning, after only a couple minutes at the sink and a dot of a natural makeup remover, I am fresh-faced and ready for bed.
