Showers are far better than baths in terms of water consumption - on average, a five minute shower uses a third of the water as a bath (low flow heads do even better!) and that means tens of tons of water saved. Love that!
I know that five minutes may seem like a short amount of time (especially for me, as I am guilty of an occasional ridiculously long shower... but I really am trying to limit them), but my friend gave me the greatest tip the other day: listen to music while showering. You are thinking, what does shower music have to do with saving water and the world?! Easy. Each song I play is roughly three minutes. So by knowing how many songs I listen to, I can judge about how long I have been in the shower. If I reach the end of the second song, I know that I want to be wrapping it up pretty quickly. Easy, right? Plus it jazzes up your shower soundtrack!!
One more way to save even more water: use just one towel to dry off - and use the same towel more than once. After all, you are using it when you are clean so it can't get that dirty! The fewer loads of wash you do, the more water you save. Simple as that.
Oh and saving water may be good for your water bill in addition to the planet ... just a thought ...
