Swishing -- Yes, you heard me right. Swishing - aka a fabulous clothes swap party -- is the latest trend taking North America by storm, with the first official party in New York held last weekend. Swapping (recycling, in less fancy terms) is eco in its very essence! And clothing is one thing I personally can never have too much of. Calling all fashionistas: come together to save the world and look fabulous in the process. What is more eco-chic than that?! Started in London (with clothes from the likes of Naomi Cambell, Kelly Osbourne, and Kylie Minogue), swishing is a fun way to reduce the hundreds of thousands of tons of clothing that are dumped into landfills every year, without additional burden on the environment. But what actually happens at a swishing party? You can get the full list of rules from the official Swishing website but the basics are:
  • everyone must bring one piece of clothing or accessory,
  • all articles are put on display,
  • you have one hour to look around without claiming anything,
  • once the swish is announced open, you are free to take anything and everything you want!
  • Nothing can beat clothes, friends, and eco-conscience together! As well as the official rules, Swishing.org has printable invitations, swish calendars and some great tips on how to throw your very own party. Invite a group of gal pals (especially those whose wardrobes you love) and get swishing!
