The claim of the product(s):

  1. Bar Soap, Moisturizing but Fragrance Free - cleanses and moisturizes baby's sensitive skin, using 99% plant ingredients.
  2. Bar Soap, Moisturizing - cleanses and moisturizes baby's sensitive skin, using 99% plant ingredients.
  3. Baby Bath - cleanses and moisturizes baby's sensitive skin, using 99% plant ingredients.
  4. Diaper Ointment - soothes baby's tender skin and forms a protective barrier against wetness. 100% natural and sustainably sourced ingredients.

How does it work:

  1. Bar Soap, Fragrance Free - like any bar of soap works in the tub, shower or sink.
  2. Bar Soap, Moisturizing- like any bar of soap works in the tub, shower or sink.
  3. Baby Bath - like a bubble bath, just add to the tub or face cloth and add water to build a lather and wash baby.
  4. Diaper Ointment - after a diaper change, a dab on sensitive areas to baby's bum.

What is great about the product:

  • We found the bar soaps very useful, normally our mums struggle with a squirming baby in the tub and a pump bottle, but the bar you could just put in the tub and was gentle enough to rub on baby directly, no cloth. Older toddlers got a kick out of using a bar of soap "just like Mom or Dad use".
  • The fragrance free bar, truly is fragrance free, some products make this claim but there is a smell of baby powder or a "fresh" smell that is the result of a fragrance that has been added. These bars have no scent and baby smells like water when they are done in the tub.
  • Babies skin really liked the products, no allergies or rashes or dry skin.
  • The Moisturizing Baby Bath and bar soap did just that, no additional lotion was needed post bath.
  • We like the fragrance free option, you get to keep the moisturizer but have no fragrance which is key for some babies and kids.
  • Price is on par with non-eco choices.

What is not so great about the product:

  • The Diaper ointment was a bit to thick, a little goes a long way with this product which is great, but when packing for babysitters or daycare, our mums found that without direction the other care providers just layered it on way too thick as they used what they do with other products - there a learning curve when use this.
  • Ingredient lists were a bit complicated, though there were no ingredients from The Dirty Dozen, we found that we were looking up ingredients as we were not familiar with the way they had been processed or listed - if we were to have purchased at the store and not had the internet handy we likely would have passed on the product due to the ingredient list:
  1. Bar Soap ingredient list: Sodium Palm Kernelate, Sodium Palmate, Water, Potassium Palm Kernalate, Palm Kernel Acid, Shea Butter, Potassium Palmate, Olive Fruit Oil, Sodium Gluconate, Palm Acid, Sodium Chloride, Coconut Acid.
  2. Diaper Ointment ingredient list: Castor Seed Oil, Zinc Oxide, Cera Alba, Jojobo Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Lavandula Hybrida Oil, Lavander Extract (Certified Organic), Camomilla Recutita Flower Extract (Certified Organic).
  • The Baby Bath ingredient lists "parfum" as an ingrediant which we have learned may contain harmful ingredients as per The Dirty Dozen.
  1. Baby Bath ingredient list: Water with certified organic botanicals, Aloe Barbadensis, Lavender Extract (Certified Organic), Camomilla Recutita Flower Extract (Certified Organic), Decyl Gluoside, Parfum, Sodium Benzoate, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid.
  • No Third Party Logos, we would like to see the stamp of approval from a third party to know that these products have been tested and approved by Cruelty Free, Vegan Association, Eco Logo, or an Organic Ingredient Certified.
  • Uses packaging that is recyclable versus using recycled materials to start with, or so we understand from the labeling on the package and the website, it was a bit unclear.

Grade from Green Living: B-(Though a better choice and they do have natural and organic ingrediants, that 3rd party endorsement is key, it means they have met the standards of others and gone through the audit and is big when it comes to baby products and ingredient lists parents will not 100% understand even if they are natural and safe. Not listing out the ingredients they use as a "parfum" raised a bit of a flag for us as we would like ALL ingredients to be listed on a product)
