50% of Father’s Day shoppers say they will buy, or have already bought, an environmentally friendly gift this year, according to a new poll conducted for Bullfrog Power, Canada’s 100% green electricity provider. The poll results further illustrate how Canadians’ concern for the environment is influencing different areas of their lives, including their purchasing decisions and gift giving practices.

According to Bullfrog’s Father’s Day poll:

  • 52% of Canadians planning a Father’s Day purchase will make it something that helps dad live a greener life (e.g., a solar-powered electronic device).
  • 50% of Father’s Day gift givers will choose a product made in an eco-friendly way (e.g., without toxic materials).

The poll reveals that other gift giving occasions in Canada may go green as well, with more than eight out of every 10 Canadians (86%) saying they feel it is now important to buy eco-friendly gifts due to growing concerns about the environment.

“Dads come in all stripes, but this Father’s Day many of them will be striped green,” said Tom Heintzman, President, Bullfrog Power. “Canadians are taking personal action for the environment where they can—even changing their buying and gift giving habits—to help create a more sustainable environment.”

Hey, maybe the gift of green electricity could work for Father’s Day, it will enable Dad to reduce his environmental footprint and support the development of new wind power in Canada, plus there is no new wiring or retrofits necessary!
