Eco-Friendly Laundry

Get cleaner, greener clothes with Method detergent

Many of us have converted to green when it comes to our laundry, it makes green and economical sense. Our new practices include:

  • Washing clothes after peak energy hours (after 9pm)
  • Using only cold water
  • Selecting the correct water level for the load (not all things are about being “large” loads)
  • Hanging clothes to dry

But there is another step you can take to reduce your water usage. It is an ingredient in your laundry process that you may consider insignificant but is, in fact, quite the opposite.

"We've created what we believe to be the world's greenest laundry detergent," said Adam Lowry, Method co-founder and chief greenskeeper. "We're incredibly proud of this innovation, not only because it fights dirt in an entirely new way, but also because of the incredible consumer and environmental benefits it offers."

Method has developed new science, Smartclean TechnologyTM, which allows for a formula eight times more concentrated than conventional laundry detergents and eliminates the excess water that unnecessarily dilutes most detergents. The patent-pending formula is designed to be inside-out, with water inside the cleaning agents rather than outside, as is the case with traditional detergent.

Method Laundry Detergent with Smartclean TechnologyTM is packaged in a hand-held pump bottle and uses a new (patent-pending) formula to deliver outstanding cleaning power but with 1/4 the dose of the leading national brand.

The powerful formula is biodegradable and 95 percent natural, with its cleaning ingredients made from vegetable-based materials like coconut oils (click here to see a list of their ingredients). Using drastically less water, plastic, energy and oil to produce than 2x detergent, the carbon footprint of new Method Laundry Detergent is 35 percent less than the leading national brand. The recyclable bottle is made from 50 percent post-consumer recycled plastic.

With a precision-dosing pump top replacing the traditional laundry jug cap, Method's new design allows for easy, accurate dispensing of detergent directly into the machine. Four pumps of Method Laundry Detergent are all that's required for a medium-sized load of laundry. No more measuring capfuls!

The precision-dosing pump design lessens the incidence of detergent overdosing, or filling the cap above the recommended line for a load of laundry. Overdosing can lead to excess suds, which can affect clothing and the washing machine. It can also result in a consumer not getting the number of loads they paid for.

So, let’s recap:

  • A detergent that can do more with less.
  • A detergent manufacturing process which is more green (reduces water and CO2)
  • A detergent who’s packaging is made from recycled materials.
  • A detergent who’s packaging design makes things simpler and easier to use.
  • A detergent who ingredients are 95% natural.
  • A detergent who is saving us money by just being smarter.

It makes you feel good about doing laundry!
