Earth day heroes: students adopt-a-stream

Who's the greenest of them all? Chaminade's Environmental Club!

The City of Toronto's Environmental Awards of Excellence honour and celebrate leading companies, organizations and individuals who have contributed to the greening of Toronto.

The Youth Award rewards youth who show leadership in greening projects including school ground naturalization, recycling and fundraising for environmental causes.

In conjunction with Ontario Streams, Chaminade's Environmental Club has helped to pioneer the Adopt-a-Stream program in Toronto. The school has adopted their local creek, and collects garbage, plants trees and designs erosion-control projects. It has also developed community-awareness initiatives, and is carrying out an inventory of species in Black Creek. Over 450 shopping carts have been removed from Black Creek.

Congratulations to these young environmentalists!
