Faronics is kicking off The Green Living Show in Vancouver by asking attendees to consider the negative effects that computer energy waste has on the environment, and their wallet. It's also showcasing its powerful software, Power Save.

Power Save ia an enterprise-level computer energy management software solution that is easy to deploy, non-disruptive to users and IT, and is able to prove its value through power consumption reporting.
"With all the concerns over global warming, carbon footprints, and rising energy costs, using Power Save makes perfect sense," says Vik Khanna, Vice President and COO of Faronics. "After all, you wouldn’t leave your car running day and night, so why do it with your computer?"

For Sung Lee, Director of Student Computer Support for Howard Community College, the intelligence of Power Save makes it an attractive solution. ’’If Power Save detects that PowerDVD or Windows Media Player is running on our Instructor stations, it prevents the computer from blanking the screen or powering down,’’ said Sung. ’’Since September 2007, we’ve had Power Save deployed campus-wide on all workstations, which is saving us over $50,000 per year in energy costs.’’ That’s $50,000 that Howard Community College now has every year to buy new IT equipment and software, hire more personnel, or invest into employee training.
